The Raiders have been one of the most feared team in professional football for most of the franchise's existence. In 1963 Al Davis became the head coach and general manager of the Raiders—and the franchise's fortunes turned around. After a foray into the commissionership of the AFL, Davis returned to the Raiders as in a front office role and helped the Raiders win their first AFL title in 1967. Oakland won the division nine times in 10 years from 1967-1976, capping off the run with its first Super Bowl title. Though they didn't win the division, the Raiders won the Super Bowl again in 1980. In 1983 Oakland won the division once again, and subsequently cinched its third Super Bowl victory. In all, from 1967 to 1985 the Raiders made the playoffs a total of 15 times in 19 years. Oakland won three consecutive division titles at the turn of the millennium, making another run to the Super Bowl in 2002 before falling to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Raiders have a policy of not retiring any players' numbers. Score with TicketCity - the place to go for Oakland Raiders tickets.
2016 Raiders Season Preview
The Oakland Raiders struggled again in 2014, losing 13 games, including 10 in a row to start the season. But young quarterback Derrick Carr improved as the season went on, and the team posted 3 wins in the final 6 games of last season, building optimism and hype coming into the 2015 season. The Raiders were active in the offseason, looking for targets for Carr, and brought in Michael Crabtree, and used their first round draft pick to pull in Amari Cooper. The addition of these two receivers gives Oakland possibly the best receiver duo in the AFC West, and should help lengthen the field for the Latavius Murray and the running game. The Raiders also drafted highly touted defensive end Mario Edwards Jr. to play alongside Justin Tuck, in what should be a greatly increased pass rush in 2015. The Oakland Raiders have a difficult schedule in 2015, playing 8 games against teams that made the playoffs in 2014. While it may be a bit premature to boast the Raiders as contenders in a packed AFC West, they have certainly made some great moves, and should be drastically improved team in 2015. Top non-division games at home against the Ravens, and Packers.
