Established in 1933, the Eagles franchise got off to a slow start, recording 10 straight losing seasons before finishing 5-4-1 in 1943 when they joined forces with the Pittsburgh Steelers to compensate for the lack of available players during World War II. For the remainder of the 1940s the Eagles continued their newfound success, including back-to-back NFL titles in 1948 and 1949. Following their consecutive championships, the Eagles would be shut out of the playoffs until the 1960 season, when the Eagles won the franchise's third and most recent NFL championship. Through the rest of the 1960s and a large portion of the 1970s the Eagles floundered at the bottom of the league. After recording winning seasons in 1978 and 1979, quarterback Ron Jaworski led the Eagles to their first Super Bowl appearance in 1980, but Philadelphia fell to the Oakland Raiders. Starting in 1988, the Eagles emerged as the consistent threat we know them to be today. With Andy Reid as the head coach and Donovan McNabb under center, the Eagles made the playoffs eight times from 2000-2009. Philadelphia has honored eight players by retiring their numbers. 2016 Eagles Season Preview

No team comes into the 2015 season after experiencing more change, than the Philadelphia Eagles. Gone are Nick Foles, LeShaun McCoy, Jeremy Maclin, and Trent Cole. Eagles coach Chip Kelly has made his first major crack at bringing in player to fit is vaunted system, and new signees include quarterback Sam Bradford, running back Demarco Murray, rookie wide receiver Nelson Agholor, and linebacker Kiko Alonso. While there are plenty of new faces on the 2015 Philadelphia Eagles roster, the approach should be much the same, spread the ball, and use multiple formations to stifle opposing team’s defenses. The Eagles struggled to finish the year last season, losing 3 of their last 4 games to miss the playoffs. The big question surrounding Philadelphia in 2015, is will they be healthy enough to finish on a stronger note this season. Quarterback Sam Bradford hasn’t played a regular season snap in over 2 years, and running back DeMarco Murray has only finished one season without missing multiple games to injury. If their two big new offensive players can avoid injuries, the Eagles will likely have one of the most feared offenses in the NFL. The 2015 Eagles will have plenty of chances to showcase their talent, playing premier opponents (Colts, Ravens, and Packers) in their first 3 games.

One of the higher profile rivalries in the NFL, these two teams seem to bring out the worst in each other and the fans. With the two teams playing in the same division, the intensity and the stakes are at its highest. These two teams have combined for over 30 division titles and numerous playoff appearances. This rivalry still remains at the level it was when the teams first met in 1960.

This rivalry has become one of the best in the NFL. The rivalry only intensifies with both teams playing two times a year and often for position at top of the division. These two teams have met over 150 times in their history and have battled back and forth throughout.

A rivalry that is separated by one highway and almost 100 miles, these two teams have been slugging it out for over 75 years. It is hard to find another matchup with the intensity that these games are played at and with the fans not liking one another, the intensity level only continues to get higher.
