It hasn’t been an easy transition for the Columbus Blue Jackets since they entered the NHL as an expansion team in 2000. In the 10+ years as a franchise, the Blue Jackets have earned a playoff berth only once. This occurred during the 2008-2009 season when they won a franchise best 41 games. Columbus was swept by the Detroit Red Wings in the opening round of the playoffs. Rick Nash leads the organization in points, goals, and assists. Nash spent a decade skating for the Blue Jackets after being the 1st overall selection in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Nash also holds numerous other records for the organization to make him one of the more prominent players to skate for Columbus. Current Blue Jacket R. J. Umberger has quickly moved up the rankings in his short time with the franchise. Score with TicketCity - the place to go for Columbus Blue Jackets hockey tickets.
2015 Blue Jackets Season Preview
The 2013-14 NHL season was one of great accomplishment for the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Blue Jackets finished the season with a 43-32 record and qualified for the NHL postseason for just the 2nd time in franchise history. The Blue Jackets went on to play a tough series against the Pittsburgh Penguins, and finished 1 goal away from sending the series to 7 games.
In 2014 the excitement and buzz around Columbus is as good as it has been in the history of the team. The offseason addition of winger Scott Hartnell should see the Columbus scoring attack greatly from a year ago. Vezina Trophy winning goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky is back in 2014 and gives the Blue Jackets the stability in the net that the Blue Jackets will need to make a deeper run in the NHL Eastern Conference playoffs. Ryan Johansen returns for his 3rd NHL season as probably the Columbus Blue Jackets top player and could transition into one of the NHL’s elite players in 2014. The Blue Jackets should be right in the thick of the NHL playoff hunt again in 2014 and look for Columbus to try to push forward to the franchise’s 1st playoff series victory.

Blue Jackets vs. Red Wings
While the Blue Jackets might not be considered one of the Red Wings’ main rivals, there’s no doubt the Columbus fans and players don’t like that team up north. They play in the same division and Columbus tends to rack up the penalty minutes against Detroit, making it a fierce on-ice battle from the drop of the puck.
