L.A. Kings Postseason
The Los Angeles Kings were one of six expansion teams that joined the NHL in 1967, backed mainly by the Canadian-born owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, who yearned to bring hockey to Hollywood. Over the course of their history, the Kings have made the playoffs 25 times and made an appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals.

While the Kings have had a number of Hall of Famers over the years, such as Marcel Dionne, Harry Howell and Dick Duff, the franchise's fortunes really changed with the arrival of Wayne Gretzky in 1988. "The Great One" and future Hall of Famer attracted various big names to the Kings in the hopes of winning a championship.

The Kings best shot at a Stanley Cup title came in 1993 when the Wayne Gretzky-led squad knocked off the Calgary Flames in the first round and scored nine goals in each of the last two games of the series. After beating the Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leaves, the Kings were matched against the Montreal Canadiens. Even with a fast start, the Kings couldn't skate with the more-experienced Habs and fell in five games.

With playoff appearances in 2010 and 2011, the Kings look to get back to their winning ways and be a major force in the NHL playoffs.
