In 1982, the Colorado Rockies relocated to New Jersey and became the Devils. The Devils made the playoffs for the first time in 1988 and immediately found success, making it all the way to the Eastern Conference finals before losing to the Boston Bruins in 7 games. The Devils made it to their first ever Stanley Cup finals in 1995 by defeating the Philadelphia Flyers in 6 games in the Eastern Conferences finals. The Devils swept the Detroit Red Wings in the finals to win the first Stanley Cup in franchise history. The Devils continued to find success in the postseason, winning Stanley Cup championships again in 2000 by defeating the Dallas Stars in 6 games and in 2003 by defeating the Anaheim Ducks in 7 games. The Devils last playoff appearance came in 2012 when they made it to the Stanley Cup finals where they lost to the Los Angeles Kings in 6 games.
