2014 Eastern Conference Finals Results: The 2014 NHL Eastern Conference Finals will pit the Montreal Canadiens against the New York Rangers. Due to the home ice changes in the Conference Final portion of the playoffs the team with the best regular season record, Montreal, will be granted the advantage. With game 1 of the series kicking off at the Bell Centre in Montreal, the Canadiens had to get through a tough game 7 against the Boston Bruins to land their spot in the conference finals. The same can be said on the other side of the puck as the New York Rangers found glory in their game 7 against the Penguins to land a conference finals spot for the first time since the 2011-12 season. To do so the Rangers rallied after falling behind the Penguins 3-1 to take game 7 2-1, the first time the franchise has done so in it's 88 year history. The Rangers will be looking towards goaltender Henrik Lundqvist, who they've dubbed "King", to lead them in to the Eastern Conference Series against Montreal. Lundqvist set an NHL record with the win against Pittsburgh with his fifth straight game 7 victory making him ironically the "King" of game 7's.

Eastern Conference Finals Experience

The Eastern Conference Finals pit the NHL Conference's best two teams in a seven game series with the winner advancing on to the Stanley Cup Finals. The best-of-seven series follows a 2-2-1-1-1 format where the higher-seeded team starts with the home advantage. Each team is guaranteed two home games and if necessary the higher seeded team will host games 5 and 7 while the lower seeded team hosts game 6.
