2017 NHL Eastern Conference Finals

The 2016 NHL Eastern Conference Finals are set as the Pittsburgh Penguins advance to take on last years champion Tampa Bay Lightning. After falling just short of their Stanley Cup dreams a season ago, the Tampa Bay Lightning are back in the Eastern Conference Finals for the 2nd straight year, and 3rd time since 2011. They will take on a Pittsburgh Penguins team that has been playing their best hockey down the stretch. The Penguins knocked off the Presidents Cup holding Washington Capitals, and return to the Eastern Conference Finals for the 1st time since 2013. Tampa Bay swept the 3 Lighting vs. Penguins games this season, but the final match between the two teams came in February, right when the Penguins started their hot streak.

2015 Eastern Conference Finals Results: The 2015 NHL Eastern Conference Finals saw the Tampa Bay Lightning take on the New York Rangers for a chance at the Stanley Cup. The defending Eastern Conference Champion New York Rangers came into the series brimming with confidence, and looked poised to return to the Stanley Cup Finals for a 2nd straight season. But the Rangers came into a battle with a gritty Tampa Bay Lightning club that clawed their way to a 3-2 series lead after dropping the 1st game. The Rangers responded by blowing the Lightning out in Tampa Bay, forcing a Game 7 in New York. But that's when Lightning goaltender Ben Bishop took over, shutting out the Rangers in Game 7, his 2nd shutout of the series, to push the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Stanley Cup.

Eastern Conference Finals Experience

The Eastern Conference Finals pit the NHL Conference's best two teams in a seven game series with the winner advancing on to the Stanley Cup Finals. The best-of-seven series follows a 2-2-1-1-1 format where the higher-seeded team starts with the home advantage. Each team is guaranteed two home games and if necessary the higher seeded team will host games 5 and 7 while the lower seeded team hosts game 6.
