The best teams in College Softball in 2023 will be in OKC for the Women's College World Series, which crowns the National Champions in NCAA softball. The teams that qualify for the WCWS have battled through a challenging regular-season schedule, their conference tournament and two rounds of the NCAA Women's Softball Tournament. The WCWS puts on a display of the magnificent talent in Women's College Softball today. The weeklong event in OKC is a reward for the players, but also an opportunity to take home their sports biggest trophy.
The Women's College World Series is an eight-team tournament that determines the NCAA's softball champion. The WCWS is broken up into two four-team, double-elimination brackets. Those "semifinal" brackets are played until all but one team has lost twice, at which point the winners of each bracket meet in a three-game series to decide the national champion. The sessions for the WCWS span over a week and typically will include more than one game. There are All Session tickets available which provide access to all the games.
The teams that play in the WCWS are decided by their success in best-of-three series at eight different locations in the Women's Softball Super Regionals. The NCAA Softball postseason starts with the Softball Regionals, which are four team regional tournaments which are setup in locations around the country. The winners of each location move on to the Super Regionals. Prior to the NCAA Softball tourney, the biggest softball tournaments each season are the Big 12 and SEC Tourneys.
The teams that play in WCWS are the best in the sport and include the likes of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, Florida Gators, Florida State, Oklahoma Sooners, Oregon Ducks, Tennessee Vols, Texas Longhrons, UCLA Bruins, Washington and many more. Recent WCWS champions include OU (multiple times), UCLA, Florida State, Florida, Bama, ASU, Arizona and Michigan.
The WCWS is held in early Summer at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium (aka: USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium - OGE Energy Field) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Softball World Series is played at the completion of the Women's season and just before the Men's CWS.
