2023 Calgary Stampede Rodeo
The Calgary Stampede is among the largest rodeo events in the world. The rodeo is held annually in July and bring fans and athletes from around the world to Calgary. The Calgary Stampede is a ten day event which is self-billed as “The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.” The Calgary Stampede is much more than simply a rodeo, the event includes a parade, rodeo, derby, exhibition, and market. The Calgary Stampede parade kicks off the festivities, and includes marching bands, Mounties, over 150 floats, and will likely be attended by more than 300,000 people again in 2023.
The rodeo includes athletes competing in six disciplines including bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, tie down roping, saddle bronc, and bareback. Typically the crowds at the Calgary Stampede range in the 20,000’s, making them some of the most packed events on the rodeo circuit. The Calgary Stampede also includes what is known as the Rangeland Derby, which showcases over 35 teams competing in a chuck-wagon race for a prize of over $1 million. Many of the biggest crowds are there for the concerts, that include top tier artists.
