While there is nothing quite like attending a Broadway in New York City, the excitement of the show extends all over the country. Most of the high profile Broadway’s are continually touring from city to city bringing the opportunity to you, rather than the other way around.
Over the past decade, Broadway has been on the rise. With an average ticket price of $66 in 2004, the growing popularity of Broadway has driven the average ticket price up almost 180% to $284 in 2016. As one of Broadway's most new popular show, Hamilton debuted in 2015 and has retained its position as the top grossing show with an average ticket price of $500. The Broadway production of The Book of Mormon follows Hamilton with the next highest average ticket price at $249, about twice as less. Some of the longest running and popular Broadway shows over the last decade have been Lion King and Wicked - that are always able to drive an audience to their shows with average ticket prices ranging from $170-$130.
Other popular Broadway’s topping the charts include Motown ($213 average ticket price), Cats ($203 average ticket price), The Color Purple ($161 average ticket price), and Chicago ($130 average ticket price). Some Broadway shows that are on the lower average ticket price range, but are still a must see for audiences are Aladdin ($119 average ticket price), Matilda ($109 average ticket price) and Radio City Christmas Spectacular ($65 average ticket price).
