For decades, Lewis Black has been one of the most vocal and loudest voices, in stand-up comedy. Known for his finger-wagging, yelling, sarcasm and hyperbole, Black's engaging live performances concentrate on everything from the nuances of life to politically-charged topics that have made him a prominent voice in national discourse. Black was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, just out of Washington, D.C., which Black himself admits has shaped his view of government and the people that hold those positions. Black started off as a playwright in the late '80s, and his career in front of a microphone began as a master of ceremonies and an opening act for theater productions. Eventually his love of stand-up gave way to Black leaving the theatre, so he began to tour and refine his craft.

In 1996, Black scored one of the biggest jobs of his career when friend Lizz Winstead, a producer on the Comedy Central show, The Daily Show, needed an idea for a new segment. The bit, "Back in Black," featuring a three-minute rant on current events and politics has become one of the longest-running acts on the show and helped launch Black's career. This new relationship with Comedy Central helped Black land four comedy specials, as well as other shows like Last Laugh with Lewis Black and Lewis Black's the Root of All Evil.

Along with his growing career on cable television, Lewis Black also released a series of successful comedy albums. The White Album was released in 2000 to critical acclaim, and Black followed that up with many other successful records. Stark Raving Black and Anticipation would hit No. 1 on the Billboard comedy charts, many others would break into the top 10. Black was honored with two Grammy Nominations in 2006 for Luther Burbank Performing Arts Center Blues and in 2009 for Anticipation. Black did prevail in 2007, winning Best Comedy Album for the Carnegie Hall Performance.

Lewis Black has also been featured in two HBO comedy specials, including "Black on Broadway" and "Red, White and Screwed." He is a published author of two New York Times bestsellers, "Me of Little Faith" and "Nothing's Sacred." Additionally, his performing and voice acting career has put him in a variety of roles that have increased his public profile. Lewis Black is truly one of the most hard-working comics and entertainers on the scene today and still is one of the best stand-up comics in the business.
