As one of the most enthralling new shows on the Broadway scene today, End of the Rainbow examines the life of American entertainment legend Judy Garland as she attempts yet another one of her fabled comebacks to stardom. Set in 1968 in a smoky London hotel suite and nightclub, actress Tracie Bennett has received accolades for her spot-on impersonation of the fabled singer, from her nervous ticks to her wavering voice as Garland was on her path to destruction.

The show got its start in August 2005 at the Sydney Opera House in Australia, and then transitioned to London in the late 2000s and won critical acclaim. The show would make its American premiere in the beginning of 2012 at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Tracie Bennett was the logical choice to play Garland. After the show received good press from theatre critics around the country, the show was brought to the famed Belasco Theatre and opened up its doors on April 2, 2012. The show would receive three Tony Award nominations, and Bennett would receive an Outer Critics Circle Award and Drama Desk award for Outstanding Actress in a Play for her role as Garland.

The production centers on Garland in the months before her untimely death and has been described as a whimsical combination of humor and heartbreak, as audience members watch Garland's slow slide into depression and her untimely death. The show is unique for its use of a full orchestra onstage, which helps to transport audience members to the swanky atmosphere of late '60s entertainment. The show has been so successful that a film adaptation is in the works, starring none other than Bennett herself. The show is also boosted by a strong supporting cast of Mickey Deans (Tom Pelphrey), Garland's manager and fifth husband-to-be and Anthony (Michael Cumpsty), the pianist supporting Garland on her comeback. With its stellar cast, stellar acting and a memorable score, End of the Rainbow is one of the hottest shows on Broadway that shouldn't be missed by fans of musical theatre.
