JERRY SEINFELD INFORMATION
Genre: Comedy Show
Hometown: Brooklyn, New York
Hits: TV Show Seinfeld
Jerry Seinfeld, best known for his hit show ‘Seinfeld’ on NBC, is regarded as one of the best stand-up comedians of all time. His observational humor that sometimes veers into a diagnosis of uncomfortable social obligations broke through in a 10-year run where the sitcom was at times the number one show on television.
Seinfeld was still riding high in the ratings when he decided to end the show, which led to the finale being one of the most watched TV shows of all time. In 2002, TV Guide names Seinfeld the greatest television program of all time and named “The Contest” the No. 1 TV episode of all time. The E! channel called ‘Seinfeld’ the “number 1 reason the ‘90s ruled.”
After the show’s completion, Seinfeld took time off before this time returning to the big screen with Dreamwork’s ‘Bee Movie.’ Bee Movie was moderately successful worldwide but disappointed in the U.S. and is Dreamwork’s Animation’s lowest grossing computer-animated film to date.
Since then, Seinfeld has had cameos on 30 Rock and former colleague Larry David’s ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm,’ which has run for eight seasons on HBO to wide critical acclaim. Seinfeld and David developed ‘Seinfeld’ and the character of George Constanza is based off David.
Seinfeld is again touring as a stand-up comedian, something he was not able to do as a busy actor and producer of a hit TV show. His observations are still as sharp as ever and he’ll continue to fill auditoriums worldwide.
